The purpose of Woodward's Visual Arts Commission is to add to the city's beauty and our quality of life by providing a means for the selection, display and maintenance of art in the City of Woodward's "Art In Public Places" collection and to acquire by purchase or donation additional works of art.
In honor of the Rotary Club’s 50 years of service to Woodward. Founded April 1962.
Located at:In memory of her grandparents Jean & Cecil Reynolds. This bell sculpture contains 4 great pieces of slag glass.
Every 6 months the huge kiln in a West Virginia glass factory is shut down and the waste glass that has built up on the walls is removed and sold as glass for art and home décor. The long steel fence posts were reclaimed cobble (mistakes) in the steel mill where Doug was employed from 1980 to 2010. He was able to acquire select pieces of this for his all recycled sculptures.
This bell has a fantastic low pure tone and has a large discarded steel circle that surrounds dark green slag glass! It all rests on an old well-worn farm disc blade.
