  2. 44th Paul Laune Youth Art Competition Art Gallery Exhibit

    February 1, 2020 - March 11, 2020 @ Plains Indians & Pioneers Museum

    Selected area high school age artists from throughout Northwest Oklahoma will be featured in the exhibit. Home schoolers and students without school art programs may also enter the competition. Named after world renowned artist/illustrator/author Paul Laune, a native of Woodward, the contest lets students know that there is a place in the world for their talents. This competition is a 40+ year competition at the museum. Cash prizes and closing ceremonies will be 11 am-1 pm on March 11.

    Join us for Craft Club @ Elkwood! We'll meet monthly for painting and fellowship. Make plans to grab a friend, have fun, be creative and leave with a cool project and memories made while you create some home decor, gift or holiday decor. Once per month get-togethers with good friends are like food for the soul! Life is so busy and we rarely make time for ourselves where we can step away from our hectic schedules and focus our minds on something creative. At our Craft Club events, you can do just that while you visit with good friends and create an amazing piece of home decor. Here's How It Works: The cost is $27 per month. Each month, you can suggest new project ideas, choose any project up to a $50 value, and join your friends at our exclusive Craft Club event. We need at least 10 participants to start Elk City "Craft Club". Please register by Wednesday, February 12th.

  5. Presentation of the Life and Legacy of Dick T Morgan

    February 15, 2020, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Plains Indians & Pioneers Museum

    Dick T. Morgan was a pioneers homesteader and land attorney before Oklahoma Statehood. He was appointed by President Theodore Roosevelt to serve as the first U.S. Land Register in Woodward. Following Statehood, he served six terms in the U.S. Congress representing the people of Northwest Oklahoma. Come hear the amazing story of one of life's overachievers when David Morgan (his great-grandson) visits the Museum. As always, free admission!
