Woodward, OK – The Grand Unseen, an immersive art installation by Oklahoma-based artist Amber Andersen, is set to debut at the Josie Adams Cultural Center in Woodward, offering visitors an extraordinary journey into the hidden world of insects and small creatures. This groundbreaking exhibit transforms the space into a larger-than-life, sculptural environment where guests can experience nature from a bug’s perspective.
Opening on April 4, 2025 at 6pm, The Grand Unseen invites viewers to step into a vibrant, oversized landscape filled with diorama-like scenes, massive hand-painted insects, plants, and mushrooms, as well as projected animated paintings with immersive soundscapes. Through these elements, the exhibit fosters a sense of wonder, curiosity, and appreciation for nature’s overlooked creatures.
“This exhibit is about ‘loving the unloved’—giving the tiniest creatures a grand stage and helping people see the beauty and importance of insects in our ecosystem,” said Andersen. “I want visitors to feel like they’ve stepped into another world, one where they can experience nature in a way they never have before.”
A Community-Centered Experience
The Grand Unseen is not just an art exhibit—it is an educational and community-driven project. Andersen has worked closely with local organizations, including the Woodward Arts and Theatre Council, to make the exhibit accessible to school groups and families. Through guided tours, hands-on activities, and storytelling, visitors of all ages will gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
Additionally, the exhibit is designed to be transportable, with future plans to bring The Grand Unseen to other venues across the state and beyond, ensuring a lasting impact on audiences far and wide.
